Prof. Dr. B. Tugba TÜRK

Dr. Tugba Turk is a Professor in the Department of Endodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ege University in Izmir, as well as at Istanbul Kent University, Department of Endodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry in Istanbul, Turkey. She earned her DDs degree and completed her PhD at Ege University. As a full-time faculty member, she is involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate students and supervising PhD students. Additionally, she has given lectures at postgraduate programs at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.

Dr. Turk has published several articles, received awards for her scientific studies, and presented at national and international conferences. She also serves as an editor and reviewer for several national and international journals. She is active member of The European Society of Endodontology, The Turkish Endodontic Society, and The Society of Stem Cell and Cellular Treatments. Dr. Turk is on the clinical practice committee of the European Endodontic Society.

Her primary research interests include regenerative endodontics, dental stem cells, tissue engineering, and vital pulp therapies. Dr. Turk has extensive experience in performing clinical regenerative endodontic therapies with a large number of patients.


Regenerative Endodontic Therapy

Regenerative endodontic therapy is defined as a biologically based procedure designed to replace damaged structures, including dentin, root structures, and cells of the pulp-dentin complex. In today's endodontics, the benefits of technological advancements and accumulated evidence-based knowledge guide clinical principles and practices, resulting in the improved retention of more natural teeth and tissues than ever before. Advances in regenerative endodontics and tissue engineering have empowered clinicians to perform a therapy known as pulpal regeneration.

This lecture aims to discuss regeneration procedures in both immature and mature teeth, drawing insights from personal clinical cases with long-term follow-ups. The limitations and advantages of expanding indications for revitalization therapy from immature teeth to mature teeth will be explored."
